 Life Circles

 by Richard Slater

Time moves forward and back again
Old times remembered and welcomed into the heart.
Grandmother what hard Times came to tear our family Circle?
Removed you were by land and time,
The blood and thoughts grown dim.
The memories of family and Valley home, Great River Valley,
seen as reflections in your childrens' eyes.
Grandchildren listened to your stories of Witches Head
and fish camp fires, years ago, years ago.
And still the Circle remains unmended until we here are warmly greeted at the Old Ones' welcome fire, with the People seated 'round .

For my Great-grandmother
